Two Weeks

That is how long I was down and out with bronchitis. This is not an official SOOF blog, but I am thinking that the ability not to bounce back from an illness quickly does Smack of Old Fart. Other members of the family have been a little down and out also.

First, Bingo was under the weather.

His illness kind of SOOF, because he is getting older. He just wasn’t himself. But, he is under Barry’s care, so I know he will be fine.

Magic was doing fine.

He was being himself and that is what got him into trouble. He thinks all people and dogs love him. Well, there was a German Shepard that did not love him. Magic and his owners were totally to blame for this skirmish. Honestly, I should just say Magic’s owners were responsible, because, after all, Magic is a dog. We would like to think he has listened to us and learned from us, but again, he is a dog. Luckily, he did scurry away and only had a wound near his eye.

Yesterday, they both seemed to be content just keeping each other company and taking it easy.

It is nice to have someone to cuddle with when you are having a bad day, isn’t it?

Next Week, Pat is back with a Smacks of Old Fart. That always makes ones day better, doesn’t it?

Avoiding a Saga

This post was going to be a saga about dealing with Internet and cable companies. But, I just couldn't put myself (nor you) through that. So, I am going to a warm and fuzzy place instead -Pets.

I decided it would be fun to photograph some of the pets in my neighborhood.
I like to photograph my own pets, but it is kind of like working with your own children. They are never as clean, brushed, or cooperative as I would like them to be. Notice how Magic has grass in the fur on his face?

Or how Bingo gives me that "Leave me alone, you ruined my life by bringing Magic into the family" look?

So I recruited a couple of friend's pets. First was Sugar.

Sugar belongs to Bob and Mary, which along with Barry, were the main topics in early posts of this blog. Look at that happy face. She is a 'wonder' dog, but that too is another story.

This is Traxx. Traxx was a super model. He loved having his photograph taken. He is a Pixie-Bob cat that belongs to Mary Jane. He has a thumb. See them there below?

He also has a bobbed tail, spots and amazing eyes.

I'm not sure what those eyes are saying at the moment, but they are so cool.

This is definitely a project I need to do again.

Babies

Cora Kaye came over for a visit yesterday. First she slept in my arms, then she slept in Poppy's arms.

Bingo and Magic slept together.

Our second set of baby bluebirds have hatched. They are cute.

But not as cute as little Cora.

Paint and Poop

Cabinets Before
Before the ice and snow hit the metroplex, we had the new house painted and made a quick trip to Houston. My lips are also chapped but that has nothing to do with this post.

The Paint Part:
Last week, Southern Painting, spent the week painting our new house. They did a great job and were very patient with me as I still had some colors to try out. Luckily, the weather was good, and, as always, they got the job finished in a timely manner.

The Poop Part:

On Friday, Barry, Bingo, and I headed to Houston to babysit Lucy and Ava. Jacob and Joanie had a wedding and were busy Friday and Saturday. We left on Friday and drove the RV, aka, Cozy Cottage to Houston. Joanie no longer has an extra bedroom, and the RV needed to be driven. We parked it in their driveway, and mainly only used it to sleep. Of course, we had to hang out in it a little with Ava every day. She soon knew how to turn on the lights and the television. It is amazing what a two year old can learn in a few minutes.

Lucy and Barry spent a lot of time together over the weekend. She seemed to really like her 'Poppy'.
I do believe the feeling was mutual.

Barry, Ava, and Lucy were playing in the backyard when Barry and Ava stepped into some poop. Since Barry was holding Lucy, I was the lucky one that got to clean their shoes. Ava had a brand new pair of tennis shoes that are very cute but have a million little crevices in the soles. I am not sure Barry changed any diapers either.
Great Uncle Mike visited too.

Ava attended a birthday party. A magician did some magic for the two year olds, and she came home with this hat. She and Barry spent some time practicing magic tricks. "Where's Ava?"

 There she is!

Even though we hated to leave those cutie patootie girls, we headed home on Sunday.
Then, of course, the bad weather hit here and chapped my lips.
